Charlotte Linfield wants nothing more than to please her exacting father and prepare for a perfect London season. Getting tangled up with the teasing young gentleman from the local shoe shop is the last thing on her mind.
Philip Notley is just after a bit of fun when he begins leaving secret gifts for the new girl in town. What starts as a prank soon proves something far deeper, but will it be enough to bring two mismatched halves into a perfect pair?
A Lady Most Fitting is a sweet, wholesome romance filled with plenty of heart and humor, inspired by the fairy tale The Elves and the Shoemaker.
1) What inspired you to write your novel?
One of my favorite books to read as a kid was The Elves and the Shoemaker. I loved the adorable, sneaky little elves and the magic of the new shoes appearing each morning. I've also always loved a good love story. In A Lady Most Fitting, I worked to bring all of these elements together--the fun, the magic, and the romance. And I love how it turned out!
2) What is your favorite part of your story?
I don't want to give away any spoilers, but my favorite part is when the tables turn on Philip (the MMC)--in a good way! I love his joy and surprise.
3) What is one thing you love about the Regency era?
So many things. I grew up watching period dramas with my mom and siblings. I've always loved the witty speech, the manners, and the fashion. I also love people striving to connect and do good in the face of so many social constraints.
4) What was your favorite fairy tale as a child and why?
One of my favorites was The Three Billy Goats Gruff. My dad used to do the very best voices when reading it to me and my siblings. Then we'd play billy goats at the playground and my dad would be the troll guarding the bridge. It was so much fun!
5) What is one thing readers can expect from you?
Clean, wholesome romance with both heart and humor. I adore complex characters who learn how to love and overcome their unique challenges. Readers can expect characters who grow and change as well as plenty of cute and sweet moments to make you laugh, swoon, or smile.
